was that a triple triple in the beginning? i couldn't quite tell

So prim and so proper as a ballerina on ice... Elegance always shine through Alissa!

I like the music. I think it was seeing the same costume she used last season that made this drag.

She is amazing.

bellissima :))

Brilliant, I thought I was at the Bolshoi Ballet.

The music is a well known Sibelius piece that resonates with classically attuned audiences.

not really liking the music, too sad and boring...i think the only part i like is the section with her footwork to the end. i'm hoping this program will grow on me and i can't wait to see her short.

@Porporinablu I totally respect your opinion :). Granted, her overall status is nowhere near Tessa and Scott’s (plus comparing single skaters to ice dancers feels slightly like comparing apples to oranges anyway, and when it comes a waltz, a single skater is always at a disadvantage). However, as much as I love their interperation and as much as I would normally hold it against skaters of lesser status who go for iconic pieces of music, I still think that Alissa can do justice to this waltz.

@DreamsInWhite I feel the opposite. Valse triste is a masterpiece and, since Scott and Tessa skated it on what is one of the most delicious program I've ever seen, it's really linked to them. I think using some pieces of music is a dangerous choice, e.g. overused ones like habanera, because you won't ever be like Katarina Witt''s Carmen. Nowadays the most dangerous choice can be use a Virtue&Moir music. even if this is not ice dance I compare Alyssa to them, and she's not half the skaters.
beautiful.... :)

Magnificent performance, by the way. We are seeing Alissa Czisny skating to "La Valse Triste". A historical performance of note. Only Alissa could capture the spirit of Sibelius.
