It's amazing even today how much influence Emergency! had. Fans of the show are downright rabid which is great considering that the show certainly had it's serious moments. I recall watching the program while it was still in production and waiting for the telltale Motorola Quik-Call dispatch tones. I may not have fully known what they stood for at the time but I always knew that if you heard several in a row it was probably pretty serious.

havent u guys ever seen emergency lol. the ambulances were all privately owned. and yes, squad 51 is still active

LOL we all make fun of each other but we work well together Liek abttalion 6 and La city 91's are always working together on the freeway. We have some good fun but get the job done. And La City Usually has an RA which means rescue Ambulance which will transport but other than that AMR will transport for LA COunty Fire

Yes in the LA County Fire Dept a squad as seen in the above video a two man paramedic unit. A private ambulance will respond for transport.
