dude, i totally want an anteater for a pet now. and if since theres a good chance ill end up living in texas, thats doubly awesome. ill purposely leave crumbs around, and when the ants come to steal them...BOOM! taste anteater tongue! thats how ill feed it.

well I'm betting you don't have an ant problem in your house in the summer!

He is not a prisoner idiot....do you let a dog wander around off it's leash in the woods where it could run off chasing a rabbit?

I'm sure it would be extremely expensive to import one into Sweden.

Amazing never in my life have i seen an ant-eater live, only in pictures. do they carry any germs or disease like say the box turtle???
just asking....

I do not know of any thing they carry like that. They do have smelly poop. The thing with turtles is salmonella but they get that from the greens they eat so you have just as good a chance of getting it from a salad.
I'm more worried about what they could catch from people. Pua nearly died from Strep. And giant anteaters can catch flu from people. I'd hate to have to deal with an anteater that has flu.

shes so pretty! sorry but can i just ask what do you normally feed her? like do you feed her a special diet or always bring her out to look for ants like that? shes a cool pet! =)

She gets a special diet. Even if you had enough ants to feed them they wouldn't do well on that, and has been proven. You can't copy all the species and variety they would eat in the wild. What I did was make the nutrients in my mix as closely match the nutrients in the stomach contents of wild anteaters. It's a raw ground beef mix with thyme, etc. Plus vinegar for digestion. They don't have stomach acid and the acids in the ants and termites would help them digest.
