Bogart had the checkbook on those two first two albums, too, in case you forgot -- Bogart was the president of the label, and only produced DtK to save money. I like Kerner/Wise's production on the first album; there's great separation between all instruments, and the bass on both the debut and HtH smokes DtK, where the bass sounds like it was recorded in a phone booth down the street on Tuesday afternoon while the cab-drivers were on strike.

KISS' first two albums were produced by two cheese guys named "Kerner & Wise." They were pretty tight on the check-book and the sound paid the piper for it, too....... Neil Bogart did much better with "Dressed To Kill" from '75...
