@roddy76to86 Just seen your comment 2 years later. Having listened to this since it came out, I always thought it was pretty balanced about whaling - giving both sides to the argument, at the time the anti-whaling lobby was hitting mainstream. The character has 3 hungry kids, he knows whaling is a dying industry (2 whales in the ocean is lovely analogy), but wants to go back to when it was acceptable.

It's a good song from a terrible album, in my opinion. Kissing Willie's fun, but the rest is meh. The last big masterpiece is Roots to Branches, what a gem that is and one of their best albums ever.

Well it's all about whaling, and although it refers to some old whaler having to make a living killing whales out of pure necessity, it also makes clear that whaling is almost akin to murder. And the countries I refer to still hunt whales. The Japanese especially hoover up thousands each year for supposedly "scientific" purposes, and get very touchy if anyone calls them WHALE MURDERERS !!

Oh right I see. Yes, I did know that the song was about whaling of course and how that is controversial subject. But yeah, thanks or explaining that one, your like an encyclopedia when it comes to this!
