Blackhawks vs. Northstars 12/29/1989 (part1)One of my fondest memories of Hawks Games at Chicago Stadium. Tremendous Brawl Prior to game, no refs no coachses to stop it. Crowd was so charged up for this one, fights throughout. CLASSIC HAWKS STADIUM EXPERIENCE. Notice seating areas are dark (unlike the UC) focusing your attention on the game, organ music is only entertainment (unlike UC) adding to atmosphere and intensity, and NO TV TIMEOUTS, making flow and crowd energy incredible.

  • @chessunderground , another thing....great example is Winnipeg...glad to have the Jet's back, but the Coyotes should have moved back, and we should not have ADDED another team. Nobody gives a rats rear end about Phoenix, Carolina, Nashville, Atlanta and Tampa Bay. These cities we have to bear with in the West are not natural rivals.

Lastly, there is no toughness left in the league. You can't touch anyone anymore without a penalty. The game was great for long time...leave it alone!!!

  • I know people love this kind of hockey and I like too.......BUT....Hockey in 2011 is 1,000,000 times better to watch, take you kids and have a great family night. i know I am going to get grief for this post.

  • @chessunderground , what makes you believe today's NHL is 1,000,000 times better. I agree players are faster, as they have better skates, lighter gear, train better and have lighter sticks and faster shots, but the Goalies wear wayyy to much gear, no more "Jason" masks, and way too many Eurpeans who barely speak good English, have personalities like Dead Fish, and you can't pronounce their names.

Not to mention, wayy to many teams...Bettman has destroyed the natural rivalries in West.

  • This was an old Cable Broadcast on VHS transferred to DVD, which of course is poor quality, but better than a lot of stuff I've seen from 80's. I'm just glad I was there, and able to bring a bit of the old magic to life for fans. Todays' Hawk fan generation will NEVER understand how incredible the volume and emotion was at Chicago Stadium. The United Center experience at it's loudest pales in comparison.

  • Old time hockey. The NHL of today is so full of euro-pussies.

  • my dad was there

  • I was at this game. Hawks- North Stars was the greatest rivalry- especially the playoff series'.

  • Wow how I miss the old Chicago Stadium. What a shame the United Center is compared to the REAL Madhouse on Madison.

  • @starrman813 There was not another team added, the Atlanta Thrashers moved to Winnipeg and renamed the Jets. Don't worry though the Coyotes will probably wind up in Canada next year.

  • Did Messmer sing, "Gave poof through the night" at 05:22?

  • @starrman813 A new team wasn't created, the Thrashers moved. The Yotes will soon move to Quebec and become the new Nords.

  • I know people love this kind of hockey and I like too.......BUT....Hockey in 2011 is 1,000,000 times better to watch, take you kids and have a great family night.
