One reason for naming the strings could be this:
When you look your guitar from abowe, you'll see the image of the neck and the order of the strings.
Your frets starts from the left #1 and so forth. When you tilt the guitar, so that you can see the frets, you'll actually notice that tabs looks like the neck of the guitar.. Or something. :D
Out of all the videos for teaching guitar I have gone through, this guy is the best teacher yet. It's rare to find a guy with such seeming patience when teaching guitar. Cheers, mate! (That's how you English say it?)
