This is an animation I made as my senior capstone project at Macalester College in 2009. It is based on Scottish folk tales my mother told me growing up, with the style based on Scottish/Irish folk art, specifically the Book of Kells as well as more contemporary artists. The music is written by my fellow Mac Alumn Ian Boswell and based around a tune I wrote on the Irish whistle called "The Selkie" (http://www.thesession.org/tunes/display/9243).
Over a year hence, I still am quite satisfied with it, although some moments make me cringe, but that's art for you. If you don't have that reaction, you never really get better, eh?

  • @alderroots Thank you!

  • Beautiful and Magical...I love how you worked with the traditional art styles and knots! I think you did the tragic tales so much justice! Awesome job!

  • @TheThreeWeavers Thanks! And thanks for the feedback. :)

  • This was lovely to watch :) I guess my only complaint might have been that the selkie's appearance was not that to the traditional description but it still made sense and was lovely.
