@jaxandpax Either wet the art work and rub off a bit more (you might have to do this anyway) or use gloss medium to render the last bit of white paper fluff translucent. If you don't want glossy finish then just give it a layer of matte medium too. If find that the first time you do this, you are very careful with the rubbing (also residue shows best when it's dry but you have to rub when it's wet) but rubbing the image away in parts can give a nice effect too. So try rubbing more.

@richmond436 don't be so singleminded and negative :) , besides, people don't go around looking for ways to fake drawing, this is just a cool technique , we all have a choice for everything, you can choose to watch videos where they teach drawing ;P .

Hi Gary, thanks for posting this! I love watching your videos. I've just tried transfering an image on wood using gel medium and the image transfered very well! However after I rubbed the paper off, a thin white residue was left on the wood. . I varnished it but the white film was still visible. Have you got any suggestions to remove this hazy white finish on the image?

Yes i do know how to draw BUT i am showing people who can't or are afraid to draw another technique how to build up layers and imagery. I work mainly with layering and textures.

those people should be ashamed of themselves. They tell others that they DREW the picture, when in fact they either traced it or transfered it.

This is a printmaking technique. Look at artists such as Robert Rauschenberg who used photographic image transfers to create his artworks. Like i said this is just a technique to build up layers in an artwork. Drawing has its place but not everyone expresses themselves through drawing. I don´t think people should be ashamed of that!
