Honestly I think 6550 are better but kt88 sounds really big and has a lot of bottom end.

hey great tone dude, I have a 6505 head and a cheap line 6 cab but I want a new cab so what would u recommend for around 500 dollars?

@casey36 well casey your head is a great head! But for cabs, id go with a Mesa cab. But if you dont, try to get something with v30's in it! They have worked awesome for me!!! But buy it used, i bought my cab for 500$ used but i got a steal on it. Just keep your eyes peeled for something! but dont go with just something that is cheap and convient. sometimes you got to spend some cash for the good stuff!

The Splawn makes the EVH sound like a toy Line 6 amp in comparison. I am guessing that the Splawn has EL34's or KT88's in it and I know the EVH comes with 6L6 power tubes. That may have a lot to do with it. The Splawn just sounds fuller and more dynamic. I am sure that the EVH is a really nice amp and I bet Eddie and Fender will sell a ton of them.

I really appreciate that you don't just use ass loads of preamp gain in these. This is one of the best clips of the 5153 on YT, regardless of overall sound quality. Nice work. And that amp sounds badass

Hey. I wanna turn my Marshall TSL 100 Head into a Metal Monster . As far as tone goes, im tryin to get like a Framus Cobra meets a Splawn Nitro. Im still debating between power tubes. Should i go with KT88 or 6550?

What is the Mesa loaded with ? My 6505+ sounds great with Black shadows but not so good with SB25s. The reverse is also true to my ears.

I just loaded some WGS Retro 30s in a Mesa 2x12 but have not tried the 6505+ thru it yet. Hell, I have not even tried my Nitro through it yet. Why am on the internet ?

Nitro sounds better to me. Its clearer,can hear chords and the notes better. Built more for tone compared to the EVH. But I am sure there will a Number 4 model soon.
