  • I can imagine a scene from 1961. This is fictitious.

11-year-old Boy: Mom, can we get a color TV?

    Mom: No, they're too expensive.

11-year-old Boy: Mom, this show's in living color!

    Mom: We can't afford it.

11-year-old Boy: I want to see living color!

Mom: OK, you can have a color TV if you can clean out the garage, shovel the driveway and bring democracy to Cuba.

  • 11-year-old Boy: Well,i can do some of the chores, but the latter will be impossible to realize

Mom: OK. seriously,if you help me with some of the chores,we'll get our FIRST color TV

    Boy: Thanks,mom. you're the best!

  • @amiaminot I distinctly remember this fanfare, even though I did not have a color set at that time. I suppose remembering this gives away my age---21-plus, LOLOLOLOL.

  • Bang the gong! As NBC makes history in 1955-56 with color...while it would be another decade before ABC and CBS would follow (circa 1965).

  • @ma55aracin9 (many years later)

boy: mom can we get an hd tv?

    *same pattern happens*

  • In '75 I turned 9,thats when NBC started used that 3D twirling crystal N. See graphic technology was already starting to get pretty good back then. It wasn't so "dark".

  • @whattheheck1000

I like that scenario. Great imagination

My Family already had a color tv before I was born.

  • this would look beautiful in hd

  • @liddlepeep I do. My family didn't have a color tv until 1979, and that set was second-hand.

  • Haha! That's a good one.

  • TV store, October 6, 1961

TV salesman: One Westinghouse color TV, $595.

Mom: Michael, you know this will mean less Christmas presents this year?

11-year-old Boy (Michael): I'm okay with that.

(On their way home, the TV's loaded into the rear seat of the mom's 1957 Buick)

    Home, October 6, 1961

NBC Announcer: The following program is brought to you in living color, on NBC.

Michael: Thank you very much, Mom! (hugs her)

  • By far, this was my favorite peacock intro...never liked the ones after that...
