Just off of the Cabot trail near Neil's Harbour, White Point is a wonderful short hike to a graveyard for the shipwrecked on a lonely point of rocks. Just off of the point is White Point Island which is a rookery for many local seabirds, not all of whom will appreciate your presence. There is a small parking lot just past the 'Two Tittle B & B', From the paved road going to the harbor, make a right onto the dirt road and travel just a few yards to the parking lot. Expect to spend at least an hour exploring.

  • There are is a very small B&B right there. White's Point is a somewhat solemn place with the graveyard for the unknown sailor. It is best suited as a day hike with an opportunity for reflection. Cape Breton is not a very crowded place at all. It is a destination for people who want to get away. You will bump into people, but you are often glad that you did. Baxter is a big guy yes. Gentle giant indeed.

/twotittle com is the narest lodging that I am aware of.

  • This is EXACTLY the kind of terrain I hunger for. Ocean, grey sky, luscious green veg ... The first call of gull hooked me to watch the rest. I could smell the sea. Do they allow camping nearby? How crowded is it? I wish I were there ... I bet there was no mosquitoes. Your dog is massive.
