  • How can I download kata of Ohtsuka, I have practised wado ryu for 17 years,

please help me download those kata

  • master otsuka....

  • OSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS...........

  • last year i saw Otsuka and his son Kazataka at a competition... they performed a few kihon katas together as part of a demonstration.... kazataka's feet were so smooth in movement it was scary... it was like an alien creature SLITHERING along the floor, like he wasn't even trying to move, just did... i wish i could spend the time necessary to make it look as effortless as these guys can!

  • oh, forgot to mention... other 'styles' of martial arts... other forms of karate, such as shodakon, for example, and maybe some other stuff like taekwando, may have a 'rohai' kata... just with small differences... several of the 'wado' katas have roots elsewhere with similarities and differences from one style's kata to the other,... hand poisitionings for example... too much to go into detail here, so hopefully you'll see my point though

  • to the best of my knowledge in Wado, there is only 1 Rohai,... as mentioned below, sometimes it's modified for competitions, etc... but the basic crux of the kata doesn't change... great to see this video from Otshuka sensai..,

  • How many rohai kata's are there?

  • Recently a senior (Kyoshi) instructor said to me.."Kata has come a long way since Ohtsuka's day...". I say, I think not, if anything it has gone away from it's meaning. This is kata..combat kata!
