I took a big risk during this performance - I completely improvised the entire piece. That means, I had no idea what I was going to play when I went onstage. I just let myself go into a trance, and my fingers took over from there. This is the only time that I have ever attempted a spontaneous composition like this one during a public performance, and it was quite a rush; luckily, the crowd seemed to like it. (2007)

  • good keyboard i've the same :)

your improvisation is awesome.. good job !!!

  • Hey, thank you so much! Yeah, the PC88 is a great keyboard controller - the touch sensitivity is really nice. The action was a bit stiff on mine when I first bought it, though; it took a few years of playing on it before it felt right to me. Do you play professionally?

  • No, I just learn the piano myself. I wanted to have a good weighted keyboard, I found a broken PC88 for 150€, I succeded to repair the screen so it's fully functionnal.

I've oiled the keys, because they made some "squeak" sounds.

yes the sensitivity is really nice... especially when you adust the velocity parameters. this keyboard have heavier keys than some acoustic pianos !!!

(sorry for my english i'm french)

  • Wow - It sounds like you got a great deal on the PC88! Yes, the keys are definitely heavier then most of the acoustic pianos that I have played on. By the way, your english is better than a lot of people who live out here in L.A..... So, do you live in France?

  • Sounds really good.

  • Thanks a lot! I really appreciate it. Most people don't really appreciate this type of performance, because there are no solid melodies or themes to grab on to. If I were to go up there and play The Charlie Brown theme, people would rip they're clothes off and throw money at me! That's why any compliments that I receive regarding this performance are extra special to me.

  • It shows that you don't need someone else's written music in front of you. Great skills.

Very creative. You're expressing yourself thru your own music and with someone else's.
