Well, pressing the down button for the 1st floor activates the service elevator, while the passenger elevator goes to the basement, and is locked off.

Yes, maybe 350 FPM, and only 1 set of door buttons to avoid confusion, since they only use front doors.

Level 1 contains storage and lab space, but this also connects the new building with the old building.

Most of the elevators at UT are modernized by ThyssenKrupp, but some were modernized by Kone. However, it's amazing how all of them look the same.

Yes, level B is the lower basement (served by the other elevator), and level 1 is the upper basement (served by this elevator).
