my point is that mediocre whites receive more accolade from the mainstream than do elite blacks... that's true in most western (esp. U.S.) industries.

Think about Elvis, for example. Or Adele... there are countless Adeles in the black community.

and if black artists branched out more, they'd be ruling the airwaves even more than they are already. that's what i love about Janelle Monáe, Outkast, PFunk, it's something different.

What's wrong with songs about drinking and doing stupid crap? As long as the songs aren't encouraging dangerous behavior I don't see the problem. Many people, that write their own music, write about personal experiences and often times being reckless in youth and partying are apart of the growing up process for people.

That's true, but mediocre blacks receive more accolade from the mainstream than elite blacks do as well.

The public generally likes and consumes mediocre music.

I think the problem is the people Idolatrize stupid and child like behavior, if you look how many times a song that talks about drinking and stupid behavior vs. how many times they would play song that have real meaning and positive messages, you will find no matter what race or color you will get Kesha, Lady Gaga and Nicky Minaj...again, stupid is as stupid gets no matter the color.
