Did you know you can use gravity to pump water uphill? In this episode, Jeff explains how a Hydraulic Ram Pump can pump 1 gallon of water uphill for every 10 gallons of water going downhill. Although not the most efficient system, it does allow for a smarter-not-harder and safer water delivery system.

  • yery nice job.

  • Jeff. You should have explained how momentum of the non compressable water has a great kinetic energy while traveling along in a pipe.and when the flow is abruptly halted this energy is released as a terrific increase in pressure momentarly over comming the head pressure to where the water is going and a check valve lets the high pressure through and then keeps it from coming back down the pipe This is the simple explanation. I'm sure somebody can give us a more detailed version.
