C'est le même scénario que dans le film avec I Bergman ?

@livefortheday Oh I completely agree. I have been mesmerised by him since I saw The Red Shoes when I was little. If only they made them like this now...it's the eyes, I think. And the astounding presence. Sigh....

@ml0iw9 Thanks for the background.

@nocount1 Anton Walbrook was born as Adolf Wohlbrück in Austria. He left Austria / Germany for ruling NSDAP and Adolf Hitler.

Been trying to find his movie, saw it years ago and it's brilliant. Didn't realise there's an American version made very soon after, that's why I couldn't find this version. Thank you Stephen Fry for sorting that out for me!

Anton Walbrook was an amazing creature.

Anton Walbrook! Be still, my beating heart. Now, THERE is a sexy man if I ever did see one. His screen presence is divine. Such an underrated actor on the whole and his mesmerising turn in The Red Shoes ranks amongst my all time favourite performances.

even though the americans supressed the original film for years, it is now only available on dvd as an extra on the region 1 release of the 1944 gaslight..NOT on the english release...another reason why I love my region free dvd player :-)
This film is hardly ever seen, even in England. The hollywood version is far inferior, and Walbrook is GREAT.
