Y-type tramway loop in Kazan, Tatarstan, Russia (route # 2).

It's very rare way to make U-turn for trams, especially in ex-USSR countries

  • I heard that tram system in Kazan was closed. Is it true?

  • Not, it isn't. Many historical tram lines were moved from city's downtown. But on the suburbs it continue operating, more new lines are built: it's planned to install express tram there.

  • Thanks. I´m glad to hear this. Some cities in Russia are closoing tram tracks. I´m tram enthusiast and I want trams to reduce individual car transport.

  • In fact I have the same desire, but.. despite of new lines constructing and express tramway installing, it's unlikely that it will reduce individual cars. Even metro (underground) did not do so in our city.

  • @krizvasa unfortunately this tramway line was demounted this summer

  • interesting pantograph

  • it's the last version of LM (Leningrad Tram Plant), vbut I don't know exactly it's type of this model

  • питерская модель только почему с открытыми колесами у нас в питере фальш борта стоят!

  • This is LM-99AEN (71-134AEN plant name) tramcar, built at OJSC "PTMZ" (Saint-Petersburg Tram & Mechanical Plant) in 2007. It's a restyled version of LM-99 tramcar, which was being produced since 1999 till 2008.

    Now a new line of tramcars is being built: 6-axle 2-sections LVS-2005 (71-152), 4-axle LM-2008 (71-153) and 8-axle 3-sections LVS-2009 (71-154) - the newest one, just passed through all technical tests.
