I didnt say living with war was a wonderful place to live, so please dont put words in my mouth. Every country has had to deal with war; for example the world war 1/2, but you dont see majority of british people getting up and moving into other countries, no they stood and fought, why cant these people do the same? I live in london which is the heart of were most of this is happening to be honest and you can see how much it's changed over the years and im only 18! We have no rights anymore.

you do realized that most of the benefit-claiming-people that i meet, on volunteer work, are mostly locals??? sitting in pubs the whole day drinking and getting drunk. most of the asylum seekers that I do meet, are working. terrible pay but they are still trying. i didnt know a place where people die via bombs everyday is "wonderful" place to live. and who put the soldiers there?! if the only safe world can be achieve by WAR, no thanks.

If there going to do something for our country like get a job and sort themselves out, instead of claiming benefits, then fair enough but as Carol said, we have soilders out there DYING to make there country a better place for them? WHY? Most of them are here anyway! It's utterly rediculous! Again they could stop at any of the other countries they cross but there not, there coming straight here & the Government is to blame for that, we have no rules in this country anymore.

Politics. Some governments are threatened by others to deny access to asylum seekers from a particular country. So neighbouring, but safe, countries are still not entirely a safe option either. Plus, GB has more freedom for asylum seekers. There's more facilities for them to recover and to get on with life. (mind that I am talking about genuine seekers not the ones that disappear) Like UCL volunteering programme has one catered to serve asylum seekers' needs.

Carol is not denying that some of these people are in genuine need, the issue is;

why are they not staying in the first safe country they get to?

firstly, the asylum seekers didnt ask for their country to be torn apart for whatever-anti-terrorism reason by foreign men and women. They didnt ask for the soldiers to come walking in and tear their world apart! Carol had no right to speak on behalf of people with no place to call home. Lesley speaks more sense because she provides a SOLUTION. Carol blames it on people while Lesley gives a solution. People may not agree with it. but its still better than childish finger pointing.
