  • lol, .. you idiot, paragliders use nothing but windpower!

  • Be nice folks...

Of course strictly speaking all gliders (inc. PG's) only use wind power to:

    1) soar/climb/ or simply reduce your sink rate.

    2) increase ground speed when heading downwind on XC flights.

So (para)gliders use their potential energy (height) by converting it kinetic energy (airspeed)... in addition to the wind rising due to meeting rising ground, we can also 'top up energy' in thermals or on winch launch & PPG flight, not to mention hiking uo hills for zero wind TTB's

  • Yes , and take me too, you will need fuel...;-)

  • Murray, you truly are one of the best paragliders i've ever seen, ..you become one with your paraglider, as if its a part of you. I would love to have you as technical expert in my transatlantic attempt next summer, you're wealth of knowledge would be indispensible. I've managed to get Peter Purves of ex Blue Peter fame to start proceedings. .. things are gradually taking shape, and looking good to go.
