Sept 27 2009 To the Attorney General in Ontario on September 27 2009
Please stop the foolishness of spending tax dollars on court hearings (those arrested at dump site 41) etc - people who do a very good job of protecting our water here in Ontario, when the ministries do not. It is also the same issue with the RAW MILK case (Michael Schmidt Glencolton Farms Durham). It is not a good sign when the people have to fight their own government to have clean water and good food. Just look at all the items that should be banned from supermarket shelves or the coffee that people line up for as a drug, and you will see that soon you will get ill just the same as all those people who shop for these so called foods.

WIN for now ! Simcoe County Council votes for ONE YEAR MORATORIUM on Site 41
Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

Just now, Simcoe County Council voted in favour of a one-year moratorium on the construction of the Site 41 landfill on the Alliston aquifer. This is a tremendous win, but much work remains to be done. The final motion, news reports, and our new strategies will follow.

Congratulations everyone!!

The following was the invitation I received from socialforum@ryerson.ca (socialforum@ryerson.ca) on Aug 19, 2009:
CALLING on women everywhere to join Traditional Elders, Drummers and Singers for a Women's Water Blessing Song, Ceremony and Feast at DUMP SITE 41 in Tiny Township. As Keepers of the Water, 44 (or more) women are being called to come forward, to link our hearts and minds, and to bless and protect the water at this sacred place. Please join the circle on this important day as we contribute to the work of the dedicated team at the protest camp set up by Anishinabe Kweag, the woman of Beausoleil First Nation.

The event took place at the dump site on Concession 2 just North of Elmvale, Ontario, Canada on August 22, 2009. It was very well attended, peaceful, even though the threat of implementing the site is so imminent, as the date for the FINAL DECISION is on Aug 25 and 26 in Barrie, Ontario. This fight of concerned citizens has been going on for the last 25 years and so far in the last 2 or 3 weeks 17 people have been arrested for doing their duty as upright human beings, contrary to the corruption that is seen everywhere in government. Tony Guergis, Major - said in his acceptance speech that he will vote AGAINST the dump site 41, but when the time came for the vote he was in favour of it. The vote - as it happened was 15 against 16 and one member was absent, so it could have been a tie. A list of Simcoe County officials involved is available through the people at www.stopdumpsite41.ca See ALSO the list of supportive groups, individuals and businesses on the other video I posted, called MAPS.... on thIs You Tube channel.
Personally, I find this constant lobbying of politicians a huge strain, and most people do not have the time, the knowledge nor the stamina - to fight for the right to have clean water, clean air, farm fresh raw milk from cows that are pasture fed, all of this is actually a fundamental right of every human being.
As Fall approaches there is Bill C 6 which was Bill c 51 and 52, it just all gets re-packaged and voted in through the back door, and all under the pretence of looking after the PUBLIC GOOD. Then there is the world wide crises of water = see the movie "FLOW". By the way it is perfectly legal to keep antifreeze in your fridge and drink it, but the same is not true fro farm fresh unpasteurized, un-homogenized raw milk, even if you own the cow. What kind of a legacy do we leave for our children???? They WILL ask: Why did you let this happen????
many blessings from Marianne Else
PS: by the way Simcoe County is the only county in Ontario where the children are forced to learn how to read in Kindergarten already, by method of holding flash card in front of them with words on them such as the days of the week etc. The requirement is that they should know how to read before they go to grade One. This is totally abstract and very unhealthy. Why only in Simcoe County??? On the one hand there is an impetus to poison the water and on the other to poison the childrens minds and hearts without the benefits of decent milk and food. I have seen children come to kindergarten with a large bottle of coke and cheesies for lunch.....shame shame shame.....

  • Get some good footage today! Wish I could be there. I hope they pass the moratorium. All the best!

  • Just to make sure that you heard, Simcoe County Council did vote for a one year moratrorium, but there is another danger now that perhaps Simcoe County will sell the site to private concerns who could then dump garbage there, Tiny Township voted in the last meeting to put the site back to be zoned just agricultural land, that would stop more speculation, so tell you local councils...many blessings from Marianne

  • Let's hope so!

  • The website for The Council of Canadians is great - really - BUT - boy what a mess we are in. This dump site 41 is almost as bad as Nicanor Perlas, who is running for President in the Phillipines in 2010, who got very active many many years ago tp prevent politicians to build an atomic reactor on top of an extinct volcano. He prevented that to happen so maybe that can happen here in Ontario too...
