The Police - Saint Etienne - Live 2008 - Stade Geoffroy Guichard
You can hear the sound of each element of Stewart Copeland's Drums kit.
I was first row in front of the drums.
Look at my other videos. More pictures: http://police.in.paris.free.fr
On peut entendre le son de chacun des éléments de la batterie de Stewart.

  • thats my godfather

  • No kidding ? If that's true, please thanks him for his incredible work on the sound of Stewart Copeland during this tour ! That video was a way to pay tribute to Jeff Seitz...

  • The second tom is tuned higher than the first tom...that's weird.

  • Yes Stewart''s playing a Paiste 12" micro-hihat prototype. I know nowbody who controls so precisely the openning of the hihat. So he need very precise cymbals but that's just incredible to play so little hihats for a so big audience...

  • 2nd tom has the higher pitch than the 1st

  • overtones overtones overtones.

  • why is the 3rd tom by itself and not with the other 2 like in the 80's?

  • @ZelenaBananaa Very true...I wouldn't say such things without 18 years of experience, a music minor and 10 years of private instructing to back it up. Look me up on Vic Firths website as a nationally recognized instructor or ask Stuart Copeland, Steve Smith, Chad Sexton, Dave Weckl, etc and they would say the same...I know because I've met half of these guys in clinics and watched them perform. If you keep yourself a student to learn then you will get much further my friend...

  • @jandyb79 not true...

  • @ZelenaBananaa

Believe it or not there is a right and wrong way to tune and set up. In the event that the second drum was tuned higher, it would make very little sense - even to Stuart Copeland. If you are a professionally trained musician, you can then determine your technique and tuning style. But to deviate from the natural laws of sound and tuning is like playing all the wrong notes in a guitar riff...you can do it, but your sound and audience will suffer!

  • @jandyb79 some drumers play like that... theres no rule for tunning a drum or seting it ;)

  • crystal clear cymbal !!

  • Jeff Seitz once even replaced Stewart, just before a gig, back in the eighties. Stewart suffered from acute food poisening, so Jeff Seitz took his place. But despite the fact that the lighting-crew kept the lights out above the drumkit, a lot of people recognised that it wasn't Stewart behind the kit.
