@punkthrasher13 The strictest smog required state in the US, California. Anything before 1975 is not required to be smogged and most of the laws do not apply. Anything past 75 has to pretty much keep the same exact engine and be within a strict limit which really sucks for the performance world which is why they created this engine to be legal for any swap. I dont know full details but im sure you can find it online

@sniperlif3 in what state?

What im confused with is why the 55 even needs the E-Rod. Pre 1975 cars are not smogged for emissions so they do not need to have anything emission compliant.

emissions legal !!! LOL i live in the commonwealth of PA and in some counties here they dont even check emission at all !! new,, old ---nothing--- just the old safety check and thats it ,inspection is 24 bucks with the sticker and down the road you go !!!!!! cya

Actually, Rick...they are ALL emissions legal! This "move" to make this a rich man's hobby, based on the "phony" psuedo-science of man caused global warming is sickening! This "emissions legal" nonsense is being sold by the self-serving often very uninformed politicians so prevelant in our Government. The emissions coming from "hotrods & classics" in this Country is not a problem, overbearing controlling politicians are the problem. We need to stop encrouchment on our historical car culture!
W, the Emissions Legal portion mainly applies to the new stringent California laws. To many California hot rodders, it seems every time they turn around, California is pushing through some legislation that could hurt the custom and classic car building community. In areas where emissions tests aren't required, the "legal" portion wouldn't quite be the selling point for the E-Rod.
