Just to clarify, this movie was released in 1968 even

though it was named 2001. They tried to imagine a space mission to Jupiter 33 years into their future.

Those codes are supposed to look like computer startup messages. Startup messages have always been useful for diagnostics in case a (tablet) computer has trouble starting. Today's computers typically hide these messages. Additionally, these messages are describing the details of the video transmission being received from Earth. You can force a Mac to reveal startup messages by holding down the COMMAND and "V" keys just when you hear the startup sound.

If you look closely it's an "IBM" tablet. And of course the space clipper was "Pan Am"...

You must be kidding? This is not an iPad and shouldn't be considered one! It's a squillion times better than Jobs' controlling contraption....and has it's own name...if you bother to do some research!

They could just do a little photoshop work and change the logo to Lenovo.

Too bad the actual transmission gives away too much of the 60s aesthetics, while the film itself its surprisingly neutral in that aspect.
