A male cardinal with his fledgling chick. Male cardinals are excellent fathers and share the responsiblities of caring for the young equaly with their mates. The chick is also a male.

i love cardinals! i have one as a pet :) too domesticated that it wont survive out in the wild. i wish to find it a female cardinal to bond with to teach him how to live outdoors. poor birdie deserves his freedom one day. but for now it thinks i am its mate.

How cool! I rescued a female that had an injured wing years ago. I kept her until she was able too fly again, then set her free. She never did become tame though. I last saw her in a tree in the backyard. I hope she did well. I hope the best for your friend too!
