http://www.aviafilms.com/boeing-737-cockpit-videos.php - Boeing 737 classic cockpit view landing. In this video you will see a landing, taxi and engine shut-down from the (analogue) cockpit of the Boeing 737 classic. The landing was carried out at night and the weather was a bit rainy...you can even see how the window wipers are being operated on the B737.

We also have a lot of other Boeing 737 (as well as other airplane types) videos on our website http://www.aviafilms.com and YouTube channel.

  • once again a fantastic view! how do get the opportunity to get into the cockpit so often?

  • @AirbusA330Pilot Thanks! Unfortunately, the videos were not filmed by me but by an old friend (a retired captain) who was flying on the jump seat while commuting to his different bases. He was just very kind to give the videos to me as a gift...which by the way was one of the best I've ever received :) ...and so I decided to share them with the other airplane fans!

  • @MickiMarple They dont =] Instrument Flight plans.

  • why did the pilot keep adjusting his rate of descent that way? was that all discretion?

  • @avnavcgm It could be Boeing Ferry pilots. They were definitely yanks landing a 737 at an Italian airport. Or could be freight pilots for DHL. Great vid!

  • @gtzbacchuszelina didn't get many thumbs up, eh?

  • @aviafilmsproduction and for that i thank you very much

  • thumbs up if the darkness from the sky gave you a spooky feeling .... lol

  • Great vid. Any idea what operator this was? I ask because it looks like an Italian airport and can't think of any airline that flies into Europe with -200's. Or was this just a 300 with really old avionics?

Aircraft navigation is a bit more complicated. Under istrument flight rules (IFR) pilot´s are using radio navigiation aids like different beacons on the ground. For example NDB, VOR, ILS. Or they fly as directed under radar control by air traffic control. Most aircrafts are equipped with an inertial guidance system to determine the exact position. GPS is also used but mostly not as the main reference yet because it can be a bit imprecise to fix the exact altitude of the aircraft.
