http://www.alterisinc.com NY solar contractor Fred Fields checks in with Alteris Renewables customer Michael Shilale to discuss his solar electric system's design. Shilale, a LEED accredited architect, installed the solar array as part of the energy saving performance project at his Rockland County, New York office.

Alteris Renewables designed the solar power system to make best use of available roof space while also serving as a beacon of renewable energy. The New City, NY office building has some of the solar panels cantilevered over the front of the building. This set up showcases the solar electric system to the public, which has been a valuable marketing tool for the green architect. The design also shields some of the southern facing glass from solar heat gain in the summertime, which will reduce the need to crank the air conditioning during the hot summer months.
