Wikileaks Whistleblower is Person of the Year

'The Guardian' voters made happily surprising choices for who they thought would be person of the year, including people who fought against overwhelming oppression and a pioneering scientist. Their ultimate choice was Bradley Manning, the soldier who whistle-blew atrocities committed by U.S. soldiers. Cenk Uygur explains why he wholeheartedly supports the readers' decision.

Just in case you didnt know (because you're not a lawyer): the US were planning to amend the espionnage Act + make it retroactive so as to "a posteriori" be able to prosecute Assange (should he be extradited/kidnapped) for something that was not illegal when done.

No, he broke the general order of the service. I am not saying that we should or not know something but secrets and classified information is a part of a successful military. Now, everybody knows that you can't take the green thing-a-my-jig on a red what-cha-me-call-it. That is the issue. It is common everyday procedure in government. He is simply being made a example of.
