Typical salafi gibberish...

Such traditions were forged by camp-followers of the Umayyads, after the martyrdom of Imam Husayn, as a part of their campaign to turn the 10th of Muharram into a day of rejoicing. These traditions are of the same genre as those which say that it was on the 10th of Muharram that Noah's ark rested on Mount Arafat, the fire became cool and safe for Abraham, and Jesus ascended to the heaven, exhorting Muslims to treat 'Ashura as a festival of joy, and to store one's food-grain. Astaghfirallah.

Inshallah Shaykh Waleed will learn to articulate himself in English. Our Lord, open his heart, make easy his affair and untie the knots on his tongue!!!

These traditions of fasting are fabricated in order to white wash the tragedy of the sacrifice of Imam Hussain (as).
Does it even make sense to you that the Muslims would learn to fast just because the Jews did it?

Jazikullah khayran Shaykh Waleed Basyouni for giving us this tip that we as Muslims can benefit from to help improve our deen.

Oh my gosh, we really have a battle with Sunni and Shia beliefs? This video is geard towards Sunni Muslims so why Shias come over to the Sunni videos I don't know. War isn't suppose to be started over Ashara between Muslims regardless of sect.

Yet NOT ONE mention of Hussain! I guess it was just a co-incidence right? A day Rasool Prophecised his son would be slayed on the lands of kerbala, thirsty and hungry, and suffering, it just HAPPENED to be on the day of Ashura. The true followers dont talk about this day with a smile on our faces thinking of only ourselves and our sins being forgiven. This day is for al-HUSSAIN and those companions with him. Those who truely saved Islam.

@PassionForPeace92 good job in explaining! Thanks!

so for those who do not want to jump at this opportunity of expiation of previous sins, then suit yourself.
Please open your eyes brothers and sisters. This is a day not to be celebrated, Yazid was an enemy of Allah who tried to destroy the teachings of our beloved Prophet (pbuh) and when Imam Hussain stood up to this oppressor he was martyred, Let us carry on the message that Imam Hussain was trying to send instead of trying to cover up the truth. He stood up for justice, freedom, truth and for ISLAM....
