Pont Neuf Paris wrapped up by Christo

Modern artist Christo wrapped the Pont Neuf in Paris up for two weeks between 23 September and 6 October 1985, leaving only the roadway uncovered.

@wugufugu Wow. Thats a pretty hateful bit of thinking. Christo and Jeanne - Claude are crazy, inspired dreamers. I wish them a long, happy beautiful life. They faced that sort of hatred and bigotry all their life, yet continued pushing the boundaries of what is regarded as art. Its pretty common to hear that sort of talk from people who are scared of what they couldn't possible hope to understand.

As I first heard about their art, I couldn't understand the art behind that at all. But now I have to prepare a spech in university about Christo and Jeanne-Claude.

I've read books about their projects and now I'm just in love with their work.

You don't have to pay to get to see their art. You don't have to waste your time in a museum. You can choose the day-time you look at the works.

You don't have to know any background-infos (although it's desirable) : just enjoy the beauty of their art.

@220friend Christo spent his own money on his different projects. He would sell other works to raise money to fund his installations. I don't see how umbrellas along a highway, a bridge wrapped in fabric, or islands colored pink are the same thing, but they are really wonderful pieces of artwork.

i mean, it looks kinda cool, is it really worth all the time, effort and money? i mean did this piece of art really change anyone's life? i think its just too much, and this is all christo and jean claude do is wrap things in colorful fabric..this might have been considered ground breaking and beautiful in the 70's but come on, it's 2010..you gotta come with something else, you need to grow as artists, these guys are just producing the same thing they've been doing for 30 years.
