yo, the dryer hose fits around the mic stand during live shows and makes the stage look like a spaceship. It's a professional spaceship imitator.

Oh? And then it has pickups to amplify the noise the tines make? This insturment and style of making music is totally new to me, haha.

No tines are metal bars similiar tuning forks. It has hammers that strike them to produce the sound.

It's a wurlitzer. It sounds kind of like a Fender Rhodes, but the tines are shorter and "distort" easier.

It's a typical thing from the 60's and 70's. You have heard it a lot!
