In the golden age of television, this man conceptualized the television talk show format. He was an inspiration to all and the future talk show hosts and future success after him.

I saw Joe Franklin at a show at Danbury Municipal Airport in the early 1980s (Tiny Tim was there , too). Very funny guy. What a wealth of knowledge on pop music from the first half of the 20th century. Truly a national tresure.

I just saw Joe on Monday. I was talking to him about Ian Anderson from Jethro Tull and that Ian is famous for playing the flute while standing on one leg.
Joe's reply:
I ONCE KNEW A WOMAN WITH ONLY ONE LEG. YOU KNOW WHAT HER NAME WAS? ...PEG!
He has these old time jokes ready at all times.
There is only one Joe Franklin and we need him around for another 30 years.
