Ok guys go easy on them, They made mistakes, But they also put it out which is what they were their to do. It looked like there was a flash over? maybe. But anyways its a good learning vid. Also always Have a hose charged and ready if ventalating. Anyone can make these mistakes.

with a viable victim and a search crew inside, ventilation would accually help tremendously in locating the victim. It would also reduce the IDLH area and make it more survivable. If the fire is attacked from the interior and blown outside the veturi would draw cool air from the house and out with the smoke. You see what happens when the process is reversed.

That got out of hand fast...a good 360 and better accountability couldve saved this house. Assuming these engines are 1250gpm and theres 750 gal of water or so, there couldve been a significant knock down early on from tank water alone.

great video! Another reminder to all of us in volley world that our fires are generally few and far between. dry running an attack plan on a regular basis can help that! Practice Practice Practice! Because when that next hot one comes in, it might be your department that looks like a big bag of ass all over youtube.

here in germany, we would not do such a ventilation, only two guy's would go in and start an inside attack with one hose, it would be enough

why do you guys and the americans use natural ventilation before the fire is under control?

Stay safe ll you guys.

Thanks laxdrummer43. It is a very interesting video. I think the key message is not to ventilate until charged hose lines are in place. The act of ventilation should be planned, coordinated and communicated.
Adding air to a ventilation controlled fire will result in a rapid increase in fire intensity. If you are aware of that, and plan for it by having hose lines in place, you can nail the fire before it spreads.
