My 1999 Persian Gulf Deployment #12: Muscat, Oman: I do more than stare at goats.

These videos are from my first deployment to the Persian Gulf, June-Dec, 1999. I was aboard HMCS Regina which was a part of a US Battlegroup headed by the USS Constellation aircraft carrier.

Another member of the HMCS Regina crew, Al, and myself were walking around Muscat when we saw this goat who'd managed to get into a ditch and couldn't get out. So I decided to give him a hand.

As you can tell, the food on the ship was pretty good and I was getting a little chunky. When I got back, I went on a diet and lost 45 lbs! I was looking pretty good until I went back to the Gulf again in October of 2001. After 9/11, Canada sent 6 ships over to the Gulf and I was on one of them. But that's another story...
