are you using the explode animation? the pieces of window travel from bottom to top. mine are in a radius, i can set the number of spokes, but this does not "build" a window like yours does.
btw i'm running debian wheezy + xfce. i had to load the emerald theme manager from the sid repos to get compiz to work correctly.

What do you do to get it to work? Everyone is having issues with compiz working properly. Are you sure it's linux mint 11 or 10. On 10 it works fine.

Yes, I'm sure it is Mint 11... I had a good bit of trial and error before finding a working solution.
From a fresh Mint 11 install...
Open Compiz Manger > Desktop > Enable Desktop Cube
Desktop Wall will complain > Disable Desktop Wall
You Compiz & window settings are now hosed > Don't Fret
Compiz Manager should still be open...
Select General > General Options > Desktop Size
Set Horizontal to 4 (Cube) ... set both Vertical Virtual and Number of Desktops to 1

Go back to Compiz > Desktops > Enable Rotate Cube (Don't configure yet)
Now back to Compiz > Effects > Enable Window Decoration (Don't configure yet)
Finally back to Compiz > Window Management
From here enable your standard items such as Move Window, Resize, Maximumize etc....
It wont work yet... but you're close...Now Restart...
It should work from here on and you can enable all the other eye candy as usual etc...
