The final play in overtime as Cal defeats BYU in 1998.

The University of California - Berkeley defeated defending national champion Brigham Young University, in sudden death overtime, to earn the 1998 USILA National Championship of Collegiate Club Lacrosse in St. Louis, Missouri. Cal Senior Attackman J.P. Harbour (4 goals) of San Francisco University H.S. received a feed from midfielder Kevin Moon on the crease and scored with 1:04 remaining in the overtime period. Moon had picked up a loose ball behind the BYU goal and fed Harbour on the crease who quicksticked the ball past BYU goalie Mike Nelson. The Golden Bears took an early 3 - 0 advantage and never trailed in the game. BYU tied the game with 1 second remaining in regulation as senior midfielder Cameron Pratt (2 goals) scored a goal to force overtime. Senior Attackman Alex Mast (3 goals, 2 assists) of The Cate School earned Offensive Tournament MVP honors for California. Senior BYU goalie Mike Nelson (24 saves) of Fairfield H.S. (Conn.) took Defensive Tournament MVP honors.
