You can debate who the "better" guitar player is (which I always find a ridiculous argument as it is similar to arguing which food tastes better (to you)); but one can clearly comment, as evidenced by the albums and concerts, Kotzen adds a certain depth to the band as he has a bluesy soulful singing voice that gives additional character to the chorus of the song. His affect on the band was more in his songwriting and backing vocals than guitar playing.

@oceangoyo i think that you're missing something... can you tell me how many top ten songs has cc since 'flesh & blood'? even poison, since native tongue! but, after all, a top ten song means nothing, you can see a lot of justin bieber's, backstreets boys', rihanna's or robbie williams' top ten songs. you can be a top seller but that doesn't mean that you are a good musician... do you remember any stevie ray vaughan top ten song? or any of dream theater? or maybe, megadeth?

Sure, this solo is harder and more complicated than anything CC did. But go listen to CC's solo for this song and tell me it doesn't fit better. Poison was never about musicianship, they were about the show and songs. Yes, Ritchie was too good to be in Poison, but that's not a rip on Poison, it just wasn't a good fit. That said, I really like some of the songs on Native Tongue, but I think they were all Ritchie and not much Bret.
