LEARN: Rigorous training will focus on skills, knowledge, and behavioral areas. Gain the ability to function as a professional member of a surgical team, support other team members, and provide patient care. Codes, laws regulations, and procedures of Surgical Technologists will be taught and adhered to.

The Robert Morris University Surgical Technology program is delivered with the cooperation of prominent health care providers. The degree is designed to meet the standards required to take the National Certification examination for Surgical Technologists written and administered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).

PREPARE TO: set up surgical instruments and equipment
help maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for patients undergoing surgery, provide patient care before, during, and after surgery in the high-tech operating room, or transport patients pre-op and post-op
prepare and handle instruments during surgical procedures.

SURGICAL ROTATIONS: Surgical rotations will be completed at partner hospitals.

CST - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting

Accreditation: The Robert Morris University Surgical Technology program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)*, upon recommendation of the Accreditation Review Committee on Education in Surgical Technology (ARC-ST).

The College of Nursing & Health Studies at Robert Morris University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). RMU requires that students pass a background check, drug screen, and complete the RMU Health Form prior to registering for clinical externships.
