London Girl Geek Challenge

Despite the bitter cold and dark 6 teams ventured out from the British Film Institute on Tuesday night to do a mediascape competition. The competition was part of a Girl Geek event which are run every few months. The events are aimed at providing a welcoming atmosphere and a platform for learning in an informal environment. The events are often sponsored and this one was sponsored by HP.

The London mscape challenge is basically a mediascape version of a scavenger hunt, there was a mixture of cryptic clues, general knowledge questions and creativity challenges which were triggered at appropriate places. Other mini mediascape games Hidden Danger UXB , Stamp the Mole and mfit were also included in the challenge to test peoples logic and agility. Each team had 75 minutes to complete as many activities as possible and to collect points. The teams were also given a camera to take pictures of their activities. Despite problems with not having enough light to read the instructions and the camera batteries running out most teams enjoyed doing the challenges and playing the mediascape games.
