While on the espn.com message boards, I discovered an article that asks you to take your pick between Troy Polamalu of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Ed Reed of the Baltimore Ravens. This is an excellent debate, and I would love to hear everyone's opinion.

Article in which Polamalu is mentioned as a potential NFL MVP candidate:

  • Ed and Troy are both beasts. This is coming from a TRUE Ravens fan

  • @amusicianspov agreed.

  • @amusicianspov

im a TRUE ravens fan but reed owns not saying it caz hes on ravens cause hes better polamalu can only tackle cant pick reed can do both fuck the steelers

  • @devinparker214 a clearly unbiased opinion.....

  • It would be a more accurate comparison if Ed and Troy were playing the exact same position. This was a biased video.

  • @amusicianspov biased? how? Are you ever going to get a truly objective opinion? If I was really trying to be biased, I would say that Troy is head and shoulders above Ed Reed, now wouldn't I? I'm so biased that I think the two men are relatively equal... lmao

  • Some of y'all say that Troy makes more game breaking plays when it's ravens vs steelers but I believe that because flacco was not too god back when this video was created but uh this year ed reed picked big Ben twice I believe. I don't remember Troy doing to much in those games

  • im a ravens fan but thats not my reason to choose ed regardless he is better, ed played strong safety for his first 3 yrs and once he got injured he played free safety can troy play free i dont think so.

  • im a ravens fan so i say ed reed but troy polamalu is a beast they're just fun to watch

  • &BREAL7960 or maybe because Ed suffered a life threatening neck injury which forced him to tone down his hard hits? Ed was a SS his first years in the NFL but switched to FS afterwards, oh well it doesn't matter, he's better at BOTH than Troy

  • Hell I personally think the Raven's did better when Ed reed wasn't there..rather than Troy.. and the only reason why Ed Reed plays free safety because he's scared of tackling or getting hit..Prima Donna..

  • In terms of making plays, Troy does beat out Ed Reed here, but Ed can make plays himself rather well.

I'll say Ed Reed, but maybe its just the nature of the positions.

  • I gotta say Ed Reed simply by margin of superiority. Strong Safeties do play closer to the line of scrimmage, and cover Tight Ends a lot. The job of a Free Safety is simple, don't let anyone past you. You look at pass coverage, Ed is just better. Troy can make more athletic plays such as the diving interceptions he does, but Ed is so good of a pass defender that he'll be in position to make that interception without having to dive. He's completely mastered baiting and jumping routes.

  • They play two different positions. Best strong safety( Troy Polamalu), Ed Reed(free safety) and cornerback(Darelle Revis)
