Now, they've got Morgan Freeman opening for Katie Couric, with the James Horner theme to go along with it.
Has television news gone Hollywood?
I love Cronkite's voice-over best!!!!

Cronkite is surely be missed, and so is his opening voiceover. Such dignity Walter brought to the contemporary CBS Evening News.
Uniting two conflicting sides (Sadat and Begin in 1977), experience before joining CBS News, straight news, etc; Couric is working her damndest to bring that Cronkite power to today's TV News (sensationalism, bias, negativity, etc).

In early Decenber of that year, he felt that the country needed a sort of good-news uplift, so he featured that clip. As soon as the news broadcast was finished, Ed Sullivan called and asked "who are those boys?". The rest is history...
