  • Will they EVER release this wonderful soundtrack on CD? Is this film available on DVD yet? I love this version of the story. I believe this song was lifted from this movie in inserted into the Sherlock Holmes B'way musical BAKER STREET.

  • @mnactr The S/T was released a few years ago, as a 3CD set from Film Score Monthly. Well worth the money, you can still buy it as far as I can see. And I didn't know about the song being recycled for that musical - which sounds appropriate.

  • Wonderful number from a sadly neglected film. hope upon hope it is released in UK before long - it is in the States, SO WHY NOT HERE??

  • completely agree.

  • Love this clip. Too bad no one will re-release this movie. I'd love to buy it

  • It keeps being 're-scheduled'. Fingers crossed a DVD will see the light of day.

  • @mnactr Goodye Mr. Chips is available on DVD--I bought it about a year ago.

  • @mnactr Actually, Leslie Briccusse re-used the song in his musical, SHERLOCK HOLMES, in the late 80's, early 90's, which never made it to Broadway. BAKER STREET was on B'way in 1965.

  • Great film, I had never heard of, then watched by accident on TCM one afternoon. Quite stunning. Of course, with music by Leslie Bricusse and John Williams, how could it be anything else.

  • The musical remake of "Goodbye Mr. Chips" will never come close to the magnificence of that 1939 film with Robert Donat & Greer Garson. One of the greatest films I ever saw and Donat's Oscar was most certainly deserved.

  • @veraswimming , I stand by my comment and by the way, I love Petula's voice.

  • @39rc6cf I would not compare them. Two different things. Both beautiful.

  • @mnactr There is a 3 CD set available featuring all the music from the film Goodbye Mr Chips, try Amazon.com
