It's impossible to scull, thin or fat your chips with this method. http://break80today.com/short-game-drills Watch professional instructor reveal simple chipping drill to ensure solid contact.
Another little bit of input if I may,,,one of the best tips I ever had regarding a chip shot was from Jim Thorpe. I had a bad habit of quitting on my chip shots which led to chunking them ( fat ).
He had me working on a simple drill, if I go back 1 foot go through 1 foot, back 2 feet, through 2 feet etc. etc. Soft hands, weight slightly left and no wrists whatsoever, I worked on my short game from there and saved myself half a dozen shots each round.
Yes a very good contribution,,it never fails to amaze me when I'm out golfing with my friends how many of them will grab a 56 or 60 degree wedge to chip a shot across the green with no hazard in front of them.
I have a very good short game and that is the reason I maintain my nine handicap, I practice my short game daily ( I'm retired ) and it pays off.
My set up is exactly as Bobby shows in this video and with no hazard in front of me I used anything from a 6 iron to a nine iron, no wrists !!
