1) Get any 3.5V Lithium battery AA or 1/2 AA and solder a pair of wires to it.
2) Open the DX7. I have the Grey Matter E! patch expansion board in mine.
3) Cut the positive lead to the existing 3V battery CR2032 and bend out. Solder the positive wire of the new battery to this lead. No need to remove existing battery. ( it probably won't leak because there is no load on it)
4) Solder the negative lead to any ground point on the keyboard. I soldered it to pin 14 of the ROM header.
5) Power up and DX7 will say "RAM corrupt". Shut down and power up again. RAM will be initialized.
6) Initialize the DX7. Reload user patches.
