In this video segment we will take look at holographic sights on a handgun. While some instructors promote this as a valid option, we will talk about why it is nothing short of ridiculous.

  • I wouldn't say that its totally out of the question to have this sight. I understand the average civilian carry aspect of it. But how about the higher level of training gun carriers out there? As in military or law enforcement. I wouldn't say that it would be out of the question to take a distance shot at a crazed person shooting up a mall or school for example. Open carry would be more ideal for this sight however I'm sure there is a efficiant way to carry concealed with this type of sight.

  • @uhateme87 Higher level of gun carriers... LE & Military? Maybe. I could see where it might apply. But for the AVERAGE person... NO! I think it is silly to carry around something you will almost never use.

  • Hi Brian. What specific combinations of sights/guns/mounts did you work with in forming your opinion? I imagine it's a pretty extensive list given the certitude of your position. I'd like to be able to add this information to my own personal "grimoire" of knowledge informing my own opinion. Thanks.

  • @brian47374 Sorry about the post above. I am saying that i agree with what you are saying..... Agreed. :)

  • Agreed.

  • Well, I can’t sleep at night promoting or selling something that I don’t believe in. And sorry, that is what I say in all of my videos out of habit because I am not “bashing”, rather informing you of the flaws. But again, in this particular video, YES, I AM bashing this mindset.

  • Is that “bashing” it? I guess it is a matter of mindset. In this particular video segment am I “bashing” this teaching… ABSOLUTELY! Again, I didn’t go looking for something to bash. It actually came to me through a student of this particular school. I guess that maybe you are the type of person who wants to believe what they are told & not have anyone tell you that it is crap. Would you rather me tell the truth or help sell the BS?

  • They say that you should have marksmanship skills out to 100 yards because you might need to defend yourself. Well, IMHO, that is a SHTF scenario & not a “common” thing. This is simply a case where an instructor is simply creating something & selling it to make money. I cannot let people buy into this without saying something. Sure, I point out the flaws in defensive handgun tactics, martial arts, etc.

  • @GrimReapersGhost I never set out to bash anyone… what I mean by that is that I don’t go looking for things to bash people on. When I am training or see things that others are doing that I think are unsafe, etc., I point them out. In this particular instance, this is a case where a company is promoting a product like it is something that you “need” to have.

  • While I agree that putting a holographic sight on a pistol is just as asinine as it sounds I can't seem to find myself wanting to agree with you. I've only watched two videos and in both you've bashed on someone while at the same time clearly stating you don't want to. Even in this one you said it's not what you say but how you say it and it came off as arrogant and uninformative, more or a rant than information. Sorry.
