Every year few days after the Ganesh Chathurthi (Birthday) celebrations, the clay idols are dropped in to water well or sea. It is a common tradition in many parts of India. The video shows me dropping the idol in our water well.Since the idols used in houses are made in clay with no chemicals added it is environmentally friendly too.
@russel123you Normally water from Well in India is to be drunk only after boiling it or other equivalent purification. The clay idol is dried for several days on Sun before being used for the function and the dropping, so the chances of bacteria being alive is very low.

I dont think that's a nice idea to drop the Ganesh Murti in the well. Because if you drink that water from the well you will also drink parts of the clay wich is from the ground wich is dirty.
