MVN - wireless inertial motion capture
Xsens MVN Motion Capture solution consists of inertial sensors attached to the body by a lycra suit (also available in straps). Xsens MVN gives you freedom of movement because MVN uses no cameras. It is a flexible and portable Motion Capture system that can be used indoors and outdoors, not only on-set in the studio but also outside. Xsens MVN requires minimal clean-up of captured data as there is no occlusion or marker swapping. The ease of use and short calibration time allows you to set up the system in less than 15 minutes.

MVN Studio shows a real-time visualization on screen. Xsens MVN produces clean and smooth data that saves up to 80% of post-processing time.

Our Motion Capture solution customers include Sony Pictures Imageworks, Double Negative, Daimler, Electronic Arts, Industrial Light & Magic, Daimler, INAIL, Ossur and others.

  • how much cost that?

  • @cannoir so... having cheap suits in 5 or 10 years from now will "trivialise" 3D animation? if that is the case, I can't wait for global trivialisation of 3D animation :)

  • It would have trivialised 3d animation a loooong time ago if those mocap suits where cheap .I thought they rented those. cos if they rent them 10k a week frankly I would put the moolah on the table.

work stations are not cheap though. To chew through the large amount of data that thing will spit out in real time you need a powerful machine.

  • Xbox knit camera does the work and it cost much less, the knit camera is not as accurate as this suite.

  • the prices for these mocap solutions and supersuits... are really absurd, it probably costs them like... 100 bucks to make this, and because they have high-profile clients and have to make a lot of money quickly... they sell them for 100...thousands... which is ridiculous. if computers would cost this much nobody would be using them. but computers sell by the billions... I hope one day smart mocap suits will be cheap as beer, so you throw a mocap party with 100 people in suits!

  • WTH, 100k for motion capture system, I guess I'll have to work longer
