Lets see if you can tell the difference between running on diesel and running on JetA1 (refer to my video 'AT602 Start Up' for a JetA1 start)...Remembering that this aircraft just came out of a 150 hourly and is running perfectly!

  • The smoke was inhibiting oil. If A turbine is going to be down for awhile they run this throught the fuel system to keep everything lubed. First starts after the check looks like a radial start. Just have to burn it off and then it's fine. Saw a 737 in Seattle that looked like it WAS running on diesel then it cleared up. I work heavy maintenance, sorry not fooled lol

  • So get out of the hangar and into the real world. It was only in for a 150hrly and was in the middle of the spray season. Nothing to fool anyone about.

  • quick question may be dumb but o well does it run on diesel or just start on it

  • It starts and runs on whatever is in the fuel tanks =)

  • Amateurs... you can run a gas turbine on coffee whitener so long as the combustion chamber doesn't take any sugar.

  • @evanccsmith This might be a really stupid question (I don't know a lot about airplanes, but I do have an interest) but does running on diesel vs JetA cause any problems for the engine? Also, you say it "starts and runs on whatever is in the fuel tanks", so theoretically, you could also run biodiesel (B100) in a turbine? What about something like avgas, E85, or something like pump gas? Could/would lighter fuels damage a turbine engine?

  • the sound of the turbine and sound of the prop , together ,,, omg

  • nearby is any international airport?

  • normal diesel has a better qualitiy than kerosine... ok, there are some additives missing, but they're only important if the fuel gets very cold in high altitudes

  • it'll even run on avgas, at reduced power, higher EGT's

  • Jet Fuel is similar to Diesel Fuel anyway

  • @evanccsmith aye. diesel, kerosene or jet1 ( correct me if im wrong. plz) but are they pretty much the same thign. other than some minor differences. like tractor trailers could run on jet 1 if desired.

  • na fazenda agua limpa em mato grosso, voavaõ no diesel hoje naõ se voa mais, por motivo de desgaste prematuro da turbina...
