No ill tell you what killed sports plus. Home video game systems. once play station 1 and 2 along with xbox came out it really hurt arcades. kids in our generation dont have to go out to an arcade when they have call of duty. and they parents arent going to go out and spend money when their kids can just sit in their rooms and play

i wish they kept this there is liek nothing to do on long island

@PressStartComic Well, I didn't see Daytona 2 in the walkthrough of the arcade that you posted, but they must have gotten rid of those machines, way before it closed. I did see a picture of the Sports Plus arcade, and one of those machines I saw looked like Daytona 2.

i never got the full appreciation of sports plus bc nor the full tour bc i only started coming to this place in like 2005 when the glory days were already gone. i always went to time out and that was it. i regret never coming here in the 90s bc ill never know what it was like and i wish i did,

i loved sports plus so much i used to go there all the time with friends family b days every thing but it was really tim to close it down it really went to hell after they got rid of the imax and put in the roller coaster thats when the games started costing like 5 tokens for one play and a slice of pizza went up to like 8 dollars it was poor management and high prices

theres a freakin' gym down the road!!! and this world is FULL of supermarkets!!!! Sports plus and dave and buster's were the only places with the BEST arcades!!! at least i won a glitter lamp from sports plus and i still have it it was like...i think 1000 tickets? and my brothers worked there!!!
Nick, which 8-player Daytona USA setup did they have at Sports Plus? The big ones at Dave & Buster's or were they 4 Twin cabinets linked up together?

@paulsbuck5 For Daytona 1 they had the 8 Player deluxe system with the camera and the chairs that swayed (sort of) with Daytona 2 they had the super deluxe machines with the pink neon signs. I think for that they had four of them with the "Battle on The Edge" upgrade.

"the other arcade" refering to Time Out inside Smith Haven Mall you mean?? oh please, Time Out was always better than Sports Plus.

The other arcade I was talking about was the FYE Arcade in the Bayshore Mall, Time Out was dead and gone for a few years and Sports Plus was the only game in town.
Now the only arcade in that area is Castle Golf, but since their seasonal you can really go there when you want.

ah ok. i've been to the arcade at that FYE. it was ok but not as good as time out or sports plus. you know that arcade is gone now too right? they got rid of it as well as the whole FYE store in the fall of 2007

Yep, I was good friends with the owner of FYE, Ted. Really nice guy. The place went to hell when Best Buy and Circuit City came to town and beat all of FYE's high prices, so when the store closed, the arcade went with it.
